THE WAR INSIDE RUSSIA
Russian People Not Bombed But Banned
The Ukrainian people are in the news suffering under the yoke of brutal Russian oppression. In Russia no one is getting bombed, but dissent is not tolerated and free speech squelched. There is a 15-year jail sentence for reporting "fake" news or, in other words, news not approved by the government. With few exceptions, Putin's incursion into Ukraine has been met with condemnation in the West. NATO countries have placed significant economic sanctions on the country, its leaders and oligarchs. The value of the ruble has declined dramatically. Businesses have ceased doing in Russia. Try buying a McDonald's hamburger in Moscow; you can't as of now. And Russian people are being "canceled;" super-star soprano Anna Netrebko is no longer appearing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York after 200 performances.
